Beaded Ornaments - the 2008 run

These were fun. It's been years since I did a run of ornaments, so to have done nine at once felt good.
Make the net first, then drape it over a ball and fasten it in place with a bit of thread through the loops at the south pole. Then thread another needleful of Nymo and, starting at the top, work rows of embellishment onto the net.
Plain net:

Same ball, embellished:

Every ornament has different embellishment.
I worked this design out by trial and error. Originally, I made the net on the ball, with no way to remove it. Big mistake, as there's no way to save the beadwork if the ornament breaks (don't ask), so I switched to making a net that could removed. Also useful if the ball it's on gets foxed or fades, or if you want to put the beading on another color ball.
